History:

12024: Nematode Product Evaluation

Greenhouse Study Example: 5 treatments will be tested with 5 replications = 25 pots. Soil will be inoculated with 5000 root-knot eggs/pot. Products to be tested will be added to pots according to client’s specifications. Pots will be planted to a host for the nematode such as wheat or tomato. Plants will be maintained in the greenhouse for the designated test period. At harvest, roots will be removed from the pot and gently washed free of soil. Nematode eggs will be extracted from roots and counted. Nematodes will be extracted from soil and counted. Statistical analysis will be conducted to see if the treatments reduced the ability on the nematode population to increase. Field Trial Example – Potato: 10 treatments will be tested with 5 replications. Twenty soil samples from the potential study location will be sampled for nematodes to identify the best site in which to place the research plots. Plots will be laid out and pretreatment nematode soil samples will be taken from each plot. Client is required to make their own applications but project personnel will assist product representative in product application in necessary. Applications may occur on several dates. Post treatment/mid-season nematode soil samples will be taken from each plot. Harvest nematode soil samples will be taken from each plot. Tubers will be harvested from each plot and yield determined for each size class. A sample of 25 tubers from each plot will be examined for nematode damage. Statistical analysis will be conducted to see if the treatments reduced soil nematode populations or tuber damage from nematodes. Minimum fee will be $4,800. Additional expenses will be calculated as follows: Research Assistant at $60.22/hr, Academic (Professor) at $108.07/hr, additional samples at $55/sample, travel will be billed at actual costs, additional supplies and services (seed, fertilizer, pesticides, irrigation, site prep, etc) will be billed at actual costs. A written estimate will be provided to client before work begins.

12024: Nematode Product Evaluation

Greenhouse Study Example 5 treatments will be tested with 5 replications = 25 pots. Field Trial Example - Potato 20 soil samples from the potential study location will be sampled for nematodes to identify the best site in which to place the research plots. Plots will be laid out and pretreatment nematode soil samples will be taken from each plot. Project personnel will assist product representative in product application according to client’s specifications. Applications may occur on several dates. Post treatment/midseason nematode soil samples will be taken from each plot.
